Azurite Rosette Cluster, Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona, USA

Sold Out

Size: 9.1 x 8.0 x 4.0cm

Species: Azurite

Locality: Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona, USA

Description: Arizona is famous world wide for its massive copper deposits. Perhaps the most famous of these deposits are found adjacent to the town of Bisbee located in Cochise County. The copper deposits around Bisbee were fabulously rich and produced approximately 8 billion pounds of copper over the lifetime of its various mines (Graeme, 1981). Even more valued than the countless pounds of base and precious metals that made the miners of that era wealthy, were the aesthetically stunning mineral specimens that were produced. Bisbee has quite a variety of mineral species, with over 337 identified species according to (Graeme III, 2020). However for all the variety, the one that makes the heart race of any collector, whether novice or veteran, is a good Bisbee Azurite.

A fine specimen from an important historical mining district. This specimen is composed of a cluster of interlocking lustrous bladed azurite rosettes. The rosettes are up to 1.5cm across and are colored a dark royal blue as typical of the Bisbee district. The specimen displays excellently from a number of orientations at the preference of the collector, and has a funky almost abstract sculptural shape with all the interlocked rosettes. An excellent size at 9cm the specimen is large enough to immediately capture attention when placed into a display case. If you have been looking for a quality specimen form this famous district that is of excellent quality, here is a chance to get a great specimen at what I consider to be an excellent value.

The color and luster are really much better in person and more vibrant than a single photograph is capable of communicating, if you would like a video feel free to email me at danzrockshop@gmail.com. As a side note, I seriously doubt the specimen has ever been professionally cleaned, and it could potentially be improved with a professional cleaning.
